music room, stillorgan, dublin
An existing converted garage to the side of a two storey suburban house was remodelled to create a practice/rehearsal room for a family of musicians.
A bay window was created in one wall to contain a piano, and a sliding opague glass screen opposite allows the expansion of the space into the kitchen/dining room, providing seating for small recitals. Large square windows at either end of the room give views through to the garden while a bench provides storage for sheet music.
Plastered walls painted mdf and ground concrete paving contrasts with the rich woods of the instruments and music stand.
area 10 sq m.
completed 2005.
